The Children

Below you can find Parinita’s testimonial. Parinita is the children’s home mother. Frequently, we receive her short testimonials. Below, you can read how the children are doing seen through the eyes of Parinita in the context of the Nepali culture.

Uma Dhungana
Uma is very friendly to new girl 'Radhika'. They are of same age. She is happy to get new friend. Nowadays she likes to stay in children home more than in her own home. Now she doesn't get home sick and never her eyes full with tears. She feels as her own home. She loves Anjan very much and helps him to put toothpaste in his brush, cleaning face, hands etc. After breakfast, Uma teach her brothers to read and write. Uma is very good in social behaviour. She helps us in work which she can do. She wakes up early and helps me in my morning work in the absence of Laxmi. She always tells me that she will take me to her house one day. Uma learns everything quickly. She shares with me everything learned in school.

Anjan Rai
This month, Anjan completed one year in children home. Last year he couldn't speak fluently and couldn't do his own work. After one year, there is a great change in him. Now, he can speak very clearly. He changes his dress himself after return from school. He likes to help me in every work. He loves me very much. He tries to clean his hands & legs by himself. He can speak fluently with everybody. Anjan is the smallest child, so all other children blame him when they did mistakes. He tries to wash his dishes himself. He likes to do work too.
When Anjan returned from his house after Dashain and Tihar, he didn't talk with other and didn't play with them too for 2 weeks. He only looked at the window and gate with filling tears in his eyes. When we asked him, he didn't speak anything. Now, he changed like before. He has habit of keeping things at right place. He speaks nicely with other as before. One day I took him Nagarkot with Saar. He enjoyed a lot and he became very happy by playing toy is Saar's room. From that day, he changed more. Now, he doesn't stay alone. He calls me Mimi with love. When I returned from Bhaktapur, he looks very happy and he hopes that I brought him something from Bhaktapur.
Anjan wants to do the things which we don't allow him. Anjan plays swings more. He likes to play with Uma by cooking and eating dishes. Now, Anjan is in J.K.G. He can read & write A-Z, 1-10. He concentrates in study. And also he concentrates in making railway. He wants to eat more than he can.

Radhika Bhattarai
 Radhika is a new girl who entered in children home on 26th March, 2008. First 2/3 days she was very happy to be here. Then, she wants to go back to her home. She says that she has 80 years old grandmother in home, she worries about me, I should go back. Sometimes she cries and don't speak anything. She is missing her home a lot.
Radhika is a very good girl, clever and talks like mature person. She don't have habit of saying 'Mommy', so she hesitates to say 'Mommy' to me. She is very helpful girl. She likes to work and helps me in every work. She doesn't have habit of telling lie and back biting. Uma and Radhika are very friendly with each other. They are likes sisters. They talk a lot with each other.
Radhika has good concentration. She takes care of her things very much. She is studying in class-2 in her village. But she is weak in reading and writing. But she is perfect in singing and dancing

Akaash Kayastha
Akaash looks very innocent, good and speaks less. Sometime, he become good boy works in land with Krishna Bhakta, give water on field and bring vegetables from there too.  But he doesn't give any interest in his study and he is careless in cleanness. I heard from other children that Akaash have tried to start to smoke cigarettes. 
Because of these habits, we took him to homeopathic doctor. The doctor said that he needs lots of caring, it will be alright slowly. She called after 2 weeks for check-up.
Akaash is more interest in drawing, playing tires and giving water on plants now. He doesn't concentrate in study even in exam time. He likes to play in small cottage lonely.
He is healthy, fond of eating too. But he is slow in everything like- in walking, eating, working and giving reply.

Bhim Bahadur Gurung
Bhim loves me very much and he speaks politely with others. He doesn't start eating until I ask him to eat. He likes to work on land with Krishna Bhakta.
He has habit of get nervous while working near by us. But he works perfectly when we are not near by him. Bhim is good in social behavior. Bhim is the child who calls me 'mommy' a lot. Nowadays he talks about his own house and his cousins, nephew. He says that he'll take me to his house in coming 'Dashain' and he'll introduce me as his 'school's mom" to his family members. He requests to his mother in phone to take him one time in Dashain.
He can receive phone calls very well. Nowadays he likes to talk about his own family
Now, he sings a song in front of us and he very concentrate in listening story. He is good in games such as memory game, carom board, high-jump etc. He gives more interest in study too but he can't keep in his memory quickly. Now, Bhim is in preparatory class. He likes to read & write. He likes to draw picture of vehicles very much. He can remember the place where he visited only for one time.
Bhim is 23 kg. He likes to eat everything except dry foods. Bhim's height is increased than before and became bit fat too. Physically he is fit and fine.

Yam Bahadur Gurung
Yam is good in behaviour. But he doesn't understand Nepali language quickly; we have to repeat the sentence two or more times to make him understand. And I think he has less power of hearing. Yam is good helper, he helps to clean school compound and every Saturday they clean toilet together. Yam loves Bhim very much. He wants to be first in everything like in reading, writing, washing dishes, while going toilet. He When he did mistakes, he starts crying before we scold him. He is curious in learning new things. He is sharp minded boy. Yam can eat more than before. His weight is 21kg. His height is small according to his age. He is very strong.
